I recently saw some references to Xupiter in this forum and wanted to know more about it. This may relate to a problem I had a few months ago. For a while I was having all kinds of problemswithmy machine, shut down problems, blue screens, lock ups, etc.It all startedaround the time I had somehow managed to get Xupiter on my system (don't ask me how) and removed it. Was I hijacked by someone? Can Xupiter just be removed or will doing so cause problems?
My fix of my problems was to reformat and install xp pro. I like it but I lost some files when I reformatted. I accedentally reformatted all drives ( I have three partitioins, with o/s being on c) So the whole incedent is a real sore spot.

See that "Search" button near top of page..across from the PC Guide logo? Click on that, and put Xupiter in the box. I just did that and got a list of threads, including a current one.

Xupiter and its many variants (OrbitExplorer etc) can be detected and removed by Spybot Search & Destroy (get it here: http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download), Ad-Aware, and no doubt by other antispyware programs. Read about Xupiter here: http://217.115.153.73/parasite/Xupiter.html
