Hi,

Can anyone tell me the likely cause and resolution of a slowwwww connection to a webserver that results in the common 'cannot find server or DNS error' after sitting in limbo for about 5mins?

Basically, I am running W2K AS, IIS5 and users are connecting thru HTTPS (128bit encryption).

I've checked all my DNS records and stats with no luck. I've restarted the IIS service, checked the ping connection to the webserver (interestingly enough the response time varies from 10ms to 700ms, but when the response is above 100ms the next 20 or so pings are also well above 100ms).

The strange thing is everything was working fine for about 2hrs this morning then all of a sudden, it all went pearshaped. No event log details any error. Everything 'appears' ok on the webserver but I just can't seem to find what is wrong.

Help??

Ta,

Stu

Did you check that port 443 on the server was still open?
Take a look at this MSKB article Q265847 (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q265/8/47.ASP?LN=EN-US)

You might also want to look around for information on Schannel.dll. I know that incorrect versions of this file can cause problems.

Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
