Web log = BLOG.

It is web shorthand for a journal that someone keeps online and generally makes accessible to the public. There are a number of them that are becoming internationally known and followed. Many are quite mundane as well....;)

one of the more famous ones is the one of a US soldier who was deployed in iraq...he'd write about what they did that day and what they ate. etc...
