I'm wondering whether this file is legitimate and if it is, how would it work? For those using a Point to point file sharing utility such as kazaa, you remove the spyware with a cleaner, and if you do that it won't work. This file however acts as a dummy so the application thinks it is still running the spyware files. If you download this cd_clint.zip (http://www.cexx.org/cd_clint.zip) file and unzip to the kazaa directory and win system directory apparently it dummys as spyware. Does anyone know how this dummy file works and if it is actually a legitimate spyware or trojan file not just a dummy file??
Ok, no that file is truly a dummy....no spyware involved.
Which app was saying it was?

The place where I got it from said it works by acting as a dummy, and may get picked up as spyware by pest patrol and other anti-spy programs. It says to chose to ignore it from detecting it as spyware.
PP has some problems...they have one of the highest false positive rates in the business.
They tend to shoot first, ask questions later.
They are pretty good about iding the stuff, you just have to be careful and read what theya re actually saying, because they do say it is a dummy file.

I'm just wondering if kazaa lite is really spyware free? One article I found, said that even though that is the lite version it still has some spyware and to solve this problem I must edit my host file in C:\windows\system32\drivers\host and add
127.0.0.1 wxx.brilliantdigital.com
127.0.0.1 desktop.kazaa.com
127.0.0.1 shop.kazaa.com
127.0.0.1 wxx.bonzi.com
127.0.0.1 wxx.b3d.com
so that I do not get any spyware whatsoever. Why then are there articles such as this (http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,51916,00.html) that all say Kazaa Lite has no spyware?? Is Kazaa Lite really Spyware free or not???

From what I've read it seems that Kazaa Lite is spyware free but as it uses the kazaa servers to exchange files through p2p, the kazaa spyware and ads come through the kazaa server to your computer anyway
