Hi. I am currently looking to buy a replacement Power Supply for the Generic 400 Watt PS I have in my machine right now. I have been upgrading alot and the power supply just isnt keeping up. I would like some recommendations on what you guys think is a very high quailty stable PS. I'm pretty set on the Vantec Stealth VAN-520 (520 Watt) PS but am open to all suggestions. Please review this PS at Vantec's Website (http://vantecusa.com/van520.html) . I would appreciate all comments on it. If anyone knows of website that has a review on this PS please let me know. I will also be in the market for a new LCD monitor here soon. I have been looking at the ViewSonic LCD's. I think I'll go with one of those but again, all and any suggestions/comments are welcome and greatly appricated! Heres a picture of the PS

Thanks in advance!

I have never used the Vantec Stealth.

I've had very good luck with Antec's True Power series. They come in 330, 380, 430, 480 and 550 watts. The True Power series has dedicated circuitry for the voltate rails, meaning that if there is a large draw on one rail, it won't bring the other rail down. The power supply is also very quiet. I highly recommend it.

Here is a good article on power supplies:

The Vantec Stealth power supplies are nice looking, yes. However, don't be fooled by the name "stealth". These supplies have high and low settings for the fan. At low, they are quiet, but give less than adequate cooling. At high, they are quite noisy.

BigBlue's Antec suggestion is good. Better quality and much quieter power supplies. Enermax has improved upon their already decent line of power supplies. Very high amps on all three rails and quiet also.Their dark blue 550 watt unit offers 40 amps on each of the three rails.

Neither offers black models though.

Here's an excellent read on the importance of the individual rails. It will help you determine your individual needs...

Although as malcore pointed out...the one with 40A per rail would more than likely be quite sufficient for just about anyone's needs...;) Even if it's not black! :(
