Hi to all!

i have a DSL modem connected directly to a hub and servicing about 20 PC connected as a simple LAN.
ok. i want to restrict evry user to access the internet in a particular time and since the modem is not directly connected to a PC, how can i do this task? is there a utilty where i can manage our internet connection to a remote PC?
the nearest PC where i can connect the DSl modem is a WIN98 PC. if i coonect the modem directly to the said PC.. what will be the setup? will i use two NIC?

Hope im making myslef clear here.:)

Thanks.

I would probably switch out the hub for a router, one with firewall capabilities and if you go for a step or so above the home models you should be able to get one with remote admin and probably connection management capabilities.

You can get a one port router for around $40.00 and it will just need a port on your hub

sorry for the late reply.

im currently using Alcatel speed touch ADSL modem cause thats what our provider gave us when we apply for the said connection.

theyve given us a gateway IP, a DNS address then .boom!.. we have the connection.. right now my main concern is to restrict some user or probbaly all the user for them not to be connected at a particular time, especially evening.. i got a lot of reason though but were not go into details regardign that.
when i typed the gateway address on the browser, i can go to the different configuration of the said modem where it says that it can be a DHCP and a DNs provider, but right now, i dont need these stuff cause i have it alreayd on our file server (windows advance server)..

my question is, since this modem uses a gateway and a DNS to connect through the net, is/are there any utilities where i can manipulate the modem that it will shut himself down or its services, should i say, during a particular time? or much better yet a how-to detail on how to set its current configuration using the browser.

sorry if i sound confusing, but i just dnt know the exact term to say for me to get thse things done.

thank you.
