Hey

Ive recently made a brand spanking new system, but im having problems with the so called 'easy stage' of loading an OS. Basically I bought Windows XP Home Edition, and installed it. However when I turn on the PC, I get a 'welcome' message. After this, it then loads the desktop, but there are no icons or a start menu. If I press ALT CTRL DELETE, I get the task manager which enables me to start windows explorer. But why is it not loading properly?
Any help would be appreciated!

Rob :)

Is this an upgrade install (i.e., you installed over an existing Operating System)?

Or, is this a fresh installation (i.e., you installed on a clean partition using your previous Operating System's installation CD for verification of ownership when prompted)?

As a matter of course, I would suggest running the Harddrive diagnostics first. They can be downloaded from your Harddrive manufacturer site.
