I have a friend who has an Emachice. It currently has onboard video and no AGP slot. He wants do start gameing with it.

Looking at PCI cards I have seen PNY has a GeforceFX 5200 in a PCI form. Is this the Top of the line for a PCI video card or is there something from ATI that would be better. (BUT it must be in a PCI flavor)

Thanks for your help

It would depend on the rest of the system whether or not a high-end video card in PCI flavor would be economical. I mean, if your friend plans on upgrading within the next year, going for a GF4 MX 440 or 460 in PCI flavor would be cheaper. A new PC would have an AGP slot that work a lot better for gaming. Otherwise the GF FX 5200 in PCI flavor would play games pretty well.

What are the other specs for your friend's PC? Not to imply anything, but I don't know if an Emachines with no AGP slot would be all that great for playing games.
