Yay, my first time ever posting to a forum! I wish I could celebrate but I need help please. I replaced a hard drive in a friends machine and loaded him up a fresh install of Win98se. Everything was working really well for me.
When I returned it to him, he tried to download all the stuff he had originally had before it was wiped out, like Kazaa, Morpheus, etc. Just music junk. But anything he downloads and tries to run causes an invalid page fault. I even tried downloading some diagnostic tools and when I tried to run them I got the same thing.
I read up on what causes the error from Microsofts website but it wasn't much help to me as far as tracking down what the problem actually is. So, here I am. Could I have missed something when installing the hard drive? It was my first one, but seemed self explanitory...Other errors pop up as well from time to time like EAccessViolation in module STOOLBAR.DLL and BTLINK.DLL. Think they might be related?
I just don't think any problems should pop up like this with a nice shiney new piece of hardware and a fresh installed OS...Any suggestions would really make my day.

Advice...Tell your friend to quit down loading scum ware Stoolbar is a bit of scumware produced by IBIS Technologies.Look in the Add / Remove program and see if you have an entry for "Search Toolbar".If so uninstall it. if not there find stoolbar.dll in your hard drive and delete it.
start -> Search -> Search Files & Folders -> stoolbar.dll

Right click it and select delete.

This should solve the problem for you.

BTLINK.dll is the same thing *parasite* associated with Huntbar

go here follow there instructions. Tell your friend to use WINMX no Parasites there..

OH ya Welcome to PC Guide :D

You said your friend also downloaded Kazaa, more crapware I am afraid. It sounds like your friend took the nice shiny new install you made and filled it with mud. I would urge you to go to mjc's security link, download Spybot and/or AdAware, Trojan Hunter (for a 30 day trial), and HiJack This. Put them on a CDR and take them over to your friend's computer and run them. Get rid of Kazaa and any other crapware, the tell you friend to use WinMX or some other unpolluted file sharing software in the future. If he insists on running that crap, he needs a real good virus scanner, firewall, and regular runs of Spyware scanners.

Go here for mjc's links:
