Is there a way to make the browser work over VPN? I have tried everything I can think of but all of the VPN connection I manage require that the user know the Name and path to access files on a remote machine. Since you are essentially logged on to the network with a network IP it would seem you should be able to browse to shared resources. Has anyone ever made this work?

Never done it - but think you need a second dialup to tunnel through your basic connection.
Couple of links to help - hopefully.

Sarasotab, the shared resources you want to get to are on certain drives and you need to be mapped to those drives to see them.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I know I can map a drive or simply type a UNC path into the mycomputer window or a run command and get where I am going. But, when I set these up for real users, sometimes a mapped drive fails or a new file location is required. Since I am independant, I work for many companies and can't always notify users of changes.
It seems that since you are logged onto the domain when you establish the tunnel, and that broadcast traffic can taverse the tunnel, that the browser should work. For example, if I start to map a drive and type in only \\server name, then click on browse, the network icon for the domain and the server both appear in the browse list. When you then look for resources under the server name, nothing appears.
I think it may have to do with some latency in recieving browser updates now that I see that behavior. I will leave the VPN up for a longer period than normal, and see if the browser updates.
I will report the results.
Thanks again.
