help needed !!

Need to remove a program, file application that lingers on my screen any time I log onto or start my system. the file is called mIRC32.exe and it shows up in my task bar. I cannot seem to be able to close it using the task manager. I can not also delete the file/app using Control panel/add,delete programs as that requires mIRC32 to be exited first before a delete can be made.
Suggestions will be appreciated.

Bongani, try to right click on the item in your taskbar then select close option. After that try to remove it thru control panel/add remove software.

If you did not specifically install mIRC (which is a chatroom client) then you are infected with a trojan!!!

Boot into Safe Mode (disconnect your internet connection) and try removing it from there.

Also doing an online virus scan, downloading and running TrojanHunter, and posting a log from HijackThis would all be good ideas too.....
