ok, I know that this problem must come up frequently in this forum so there should be someone out there who has experienced this problem.
I am newly registered and could use some help.

About a month ago I purchased a chaintech motherboard (model ct-7ajao) along with a amd 800 mhz processor, tower and power supply. I put the system together along with devices that I have from my old system, installed a new operating system and everything functioned perfectly. A few weeks later the computer just crashed and would not start up at all.
The first time I tried to start it up I received the constant beeping that is associated with the computer not reading the memory at all. There was power to the devices and to the system fan.
The next time I attempted to boot there was no beeping only the initial power up to the devices and the flashing of the monitor on/off light (no visual).
I then rearranged the memory chips to see what would happen and the system booted fine, reading all of the memory that was in the slots. The system ran all programs fine for awhile but eventually the same problem manifested itself again. I then did the memory shuffle again and it worked fine for about 2 weeks until the problem of not being able to reboot occurred again. I then traded in the motherboard for the a new one(same model) and purchased new memory chips. Still the same problem exists.... I dont know what else could be wrong?
Possibly the power supply or processor went bad... but the system is receiving power and I can hear the processor working for a few seconds before the monitor light starts flashing(no beeps at all) The brand new video card is good, I tried two different cards to confirm that it went bad, none of the cards worked. the motherboard is mounted properly and all devices were working while the system was up. I never received any software or windows error, only a crash by the system that left me with no option but to completely shut the system down.
The only other clue that could possibly help.. a small red light is lighted on both the chaintech motherboards that I have used.. it is right near the 3 memory slots. the motherboard is compatible with the type of memory that I have and made no other modifications to the jumpers or anything else on the motherboard.

Any help would be great.... I am about to throw this computer out the window and get another one.. but would much rather solve this problem before I do that

Hi Phil,
Yeah, pretty common symtoms, but sorry to say lots of possible, fixes.
I just posted the most common fixes to this problem for Shaunywhite, just below this one. And like I advised her, if you want lots of info. go to the top of this page and just under TRACK TOPIC is the word SEARCH, click on it and do a search with some of your key words in this problem, you'll get lots of advice.
peace,
and then post back and maybe one of the guys with "both oars in the water, on his boat" will be able to give you some "helpful" "your case" advice. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
