Hi,
I have been asked to connect my friends computer to the net and to be honest I haven't a clue, I know in 98 its my computer, dial-up network, add new connection. But Win XP it’s not that easy. Can anybody help?

I'm not that familiar with XP, but my recolection is that it is pretty easy. Go to my network places and you should be able to figure out from there. Also, you can go to help. There is an internet connection wizzard.
You may need info from your isp such as:
Phone #
User/Login name
Password
DNS information
Others may be able to provide more detail.

There are a number of routes to the wizard.
Control Panel >> Network Connections >> Create a New Connection.
or
Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Communications >> New Connection Wizard
or .. daresay there are others.
Just follow the Wizard and have the details that Classic.... mentioned.

Any isp worth your money will walk you through the process. that is the least to expect, most will have a cd to do it automatically. If they can't help go to another isp.
