guys i am confused. Given a certain speed FSB for the mobo, let`s say 200MhZ which of these components I must be careful to match (with the multiplier): the cpu or memory?

Both, actually, but if the memory is rated for faster than the max FSB of the board is should be ok. You don't want the memory rated slower than the max.
