I was just browsing through the website of a reputable online vendor and noticed that they had a refurbished motherboard for sale for $70.00 when it normally goes for $127.00 . Does anyone have a thought on this? I'd figure that a reputable dealer would have had the board tested out pretty well and I'm sure the warrenty is the same (going to check their policy right now.

There I go posting before I know anything. The warrenty is just 15 days, the vendor does no additional product testing and it is considered OEM with no extras promised.

I am having a conversation with myself.
I just can't believe I misspelled warranty in both of my previous posts.

Mind if I butt in???:D

Refurbished with a 15 day warranty means you test the board as soon as you receive it and contact them ASAP if there is any problem. This is probably a board they got back from someone else and, if they didn't even test it, there is a good chance it is toast....

What are the odds that there is a problem with the board that woundn't show in a couple days of testing? I don't think I am ready to take the gamble but it is still tempting.
oh, and feel free to chime in. Though it has been said that I love the sound of my own voice I do get bored with its content.

Motherboards tend to be either/or type of things. It is possible that it could have a more subtle problem like a bad PCI slot or controller, but it is more likely it simply wouldn't work. I would do as much testing as possible though if you get it. Hook up drives to each controller and try each of the PCI slots. Try the ports and make sure they are working too. Also, check the capacitors to make sure they are not bulging or leaking....
