I really hope I'm posting this in the right forum. This is one of those problems that you know the answer to, but you just can't figure out exactly what to do. In Word and Outlook, hyperlinks do not work. The error "no program is assigned to open this type of application" (or something to that extent - I do not have the computer here with me). This should be a pretty easy problem to solve, and it's really bugging me that I haven't figured it out yet. Please help.

You didn't say which OS..are you running XP? In 98Se, I would direct you to Start..Settings..Folder Options..File Types to make sure that those links are set to "open" with your browser. But, I don't have either Word or Outlook..so uncertain as to whether there are settings within those programs that need to be checked.

Oops!! I can't believe I forgot that! Rookie mistake. I'm running Windows 2000Pro. I did look at file types to see if there was a prgram associated with hyperlinks, but I'm not sure which file extension hyperlinks are under.

.htm or .html, usually.
You could also try going into IE and going to Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > Reset Web Settings. If you're using IE.
Have you recently installed another web browser? Or an ISP software package, like AOL? I'm concerned about what could have disrupted the hyperlink association. You might want to run a spyware check with Spybot S & D or AdAware.
