Hi guys.
Last night I shut off my comp and this morning I wasn't able to turn it on anymore. I opened the case and the only thing works when I switch the PWR on are the cooling fans of the CPU.
I made some trial and error disconnecting all the PCI cards and living only the video card on AGP...I changed to a brand new HD...I changed to a brand new PWR supply but no difference. Then I changed my PIII 600 CPU to and old Celeron 300 and the system boots fine, but only if I use a different MONITOR!!!
Basically I noted that when I try to connect my usual monitor (with the computer turned off) I see a spark right before the plug is phisically connected to the videocard. So I tried to touch the monitor plug and I got a little shock!
Could it be that this monitor damaged the PIII 600 CPU?
Also when I try to turn the computer on, having the Celeron installed, and the "bad" monitor, the system won't boot. If I change to the old monitor I have to try to turn on the computer a couple of times before it would boot, and then after that everything works fine.
Do u think my PIII is gone? Do u think it's possible that a bad monitor can damage a CPU?
Thanx...

Ok guys the solution is very simple...my cpu fried!!!
It was under warranty so they replaced it with a brand new PIII 933 and a new mobo because the old one has slot 1 and the PIII 933 goes onto slocket376...
Thanx everybody

What company did you purchase the parts from? Not a bad warranty.
