Another spam sorter http://www.spamihilator.com/

I have just tried this recently and seems pretty good so far.

If you try this program, report back with your opinion of what you
think.

I might replace mailwasher for this program. I haven't decided yet. :)

Sory John, but if you don't mind I want to hijack this thread....

sort of get feedback on the spam fighting programs in general. I'll update my list sometime soon to include ones that people like.

I have looked at this one but haven't even downloaded it yet...and it does look nice, I guess I should give it a try.

Not a problem. :)

No complains with this program so far. It is working as intended.

Just as a warning if this program is not running, you will not able to check your default email program at all. It basically hijacks your accounts. :)
I am sure when it is uninstalled, it will relinquish all accounts back to you.

What this program does is download your email and any hint of spam it deposits it in it's own trash bin. From there, you can decide what to keep and what is trash.

Though with mailwasher, you decide before hand what to remove from the server before it is downloaded. And I was still able to check my account with mailwasher even when the program spamihilator wasn't running. Just not my default email program.

Current free version of Mailwasher is able to check one account only.
Spamihilator checks all accounts.

nice one john,

I am trying it at the moment, it has binned a couple of e-mails that I didn't want it to so far, so I had to re-connect to retrieve them, seems ok though. I am using mailwasher as well so currently it is only doing it second hit.

seems to work fine. I have now added some friends to my list & done the training thing.

one annoyance was that I did'nt want it in startup option (which it isn't) but that meant that each time I wanted to d/l e-mail I had to start it from the start menu. so I have just created a s/cut to quick start menu which is a lot better.

Since I have 12+ icons in the systray, one more wasn't going to bother me. :)

Would be nice just to check the email, Spamihilator starts automatically, finish up and close email client and Spamihilator closes as well.

But not sure that is possible since something has to reside in memory to tell Spamihilator to start with the email client.

Unless Spamihilator had a command line to load the default email client. in which case Spamihilator itself would start the email client.

Think I'll suggest that. :)

I contacted Michel Krämer and this is his reply:

Hi!

If you look at the memory consumption of Spamihilator, you will find that less than 1 MB is used. This is a very small amount.
Your idea is good, though I think that there is no need to have this feature.

Sincerely
Michel Krämer

No biggie. As long as it doesn't crash the system. :)

According to the Finnish PC magazine MikroBitti this is one of the best programs of its kind.

I installed it a week ago and find it very useful. As they say themselves, they remove 98 % of spam.

I used MailWasher earlier, but now it has become obsolete.
