I'm having trouble trying to reformat and reinstall XP. I want to erase the junk that is on the hard drive and add partitions, but I can't even get into FDISK. I've read the Radified Guide but obviously I'm doing something wrong. To make things more complicated I don't have a floppy drive to make a boot disk, Can you make one from a CD-R? I haven't had any luck with that.
I made things worse by reinstalling XP, it wouldn't let me delete the old partition saying that it was "temporarily using files from that location", so now somehow my old data is now taking up space but its not readable. Too bad I didn't do it the right way the first time.:o

Specs: Western Digital 120 GB caviar
Althon 2700, 512mb RAM, Gigabyte GA-VAXP motherboard,
XP Home, Lite On CD-RW, DVD

Thanks for looking

The XP-CD is bootable.
Go into your bios and set your CD drive to boot first, boot from the XP CD and you can format, create partitions and do a new install.

The fifth time is a charm. I did everything the same, but for some reason it worked this time. Thanks anyway
