Im new too this. I just got a satellite for my pc and it works gr8 but i play golf on here in real time with other players now when i give them my ip address it does not work? Do i have a firewall up that i dont know of and if so how would i get rid of it? This happends in the zone .com too where you can play games with other people.
can someone help me on this

What OS you using?
If you are using XP then you could be using a firewall.

Best thing to do is see if they are able to ping your IP so you know it is not game related.

If they are not able to ping your IP at all, it could be one of two things.

1. Firewall
2. Satellite is just one way

I'm not familiar with W2K, but if it is like XP, give a friend the IP, they open a command prompt and type: ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

The X's represent your IP address

If you want, private message me your IP and I can do that right now.
Only if you want. I am not a hacker by any means.

Edit:
To find your IP click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER. At the command prompt, type: ipconfig, and then press ENTER.

I pinged your IP address at http://samspade.org/ and the message I received was:

(your IP) is an IP address reserved for non-routed networks. That means it may be used on any number of private networks and doesn't connect to the internet at large (except, maybe, via application level gateways or NATs).

Trace Route:
This is a non-routable address - it's not used on the public internet


Are you behind a router of some sort?

Edit:
I just pinged 192.168.0.50 and got the same message. And I am behind a router.
I also checked and W2K Pro does have a built in firewall. Best to use Windows help(F1 at desktop) and search for firewall. If you have that enabled, you will need to configure it or disable it for the time being.

As for the router, you will need to open ports needed for the game. After which you will need to close them again after you are done playing.
