Specs:
K7VTA3 V3.X Bios 3.0d /w AMD 1700+
GeForce4 Ti 4200 w/ Detonator 44.03 driver
Windows XP w/ VIA v4.47 drivers

Problem:
Computer wigs out while running 3DMark03.
Meaning monitor "whites out" and have to reboot to regain control.

I have tested the GeForce4 Ti 4200 and 3DMark03 on another computer and it was able to finish.
Though when a Geforce 3 is installed in the K7VTA3 and re-tested it will lockup again.

I have ruled out the video card and the Detonator driver.
And I highly doubt it is the VIA drivers. (Though I could be wrong. Other computer is SiS chipset based.)

What’s left is the motherboard, CPU, chipset and RAM.
CPU temp runs about 50°C while running 3DMark03.
Which of those would be more likely to cause the monitor to "white out" and causes a lockup?

I might mention that K7VTA3 Bios 3.0c Fixed NVidia unstable problem. (Or did it?)

Thank you for any help/suggestions you can provide.

There are some issues with GF cards and benchmarks. If it doesn't occur with other apps, then I wouldn't worry aobut it. Some of the latest FX cards especially with the latest detonator drivers, seem to be geared towards running the benchmarks than running games etc. This calls into question the reliability of running these things anyway.
It is hardly surprising that problems occur.

I was able to complete the 3DMark03 test on both GeForce video cards with my own computer several times.

And yes...it has happened in a game on the K7VTA3 but took longer to "white out" the monitor which causes the lockup. Only happens with 3D intense games.

Which is the reason I ran 3DMark03 on the K7VTA3. :)

Could be a DirectX problem. Have you ran diagnostics for DirectX?

Yeah.
Using 9.0a and the only problem it shows is that the Detonator driver is not certified.
"Display Tab 1: The file nv4_disp.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer."

I am using 9.0a as well and have that same message but no real problem on my computer.

The only real difference between the K7VTA3 and mine is that the K7VTA3 uses VIA drivers and mine uses the SiS drivers.

A thought just crossed my mind... Could it be that the monitor is the culprit? Connection is secure, but no idea about the hardware.
Might have to swap monitors when I get some time so I can rule that out as well.
