boot hangs at/after verifing dmi pool

http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif have just installed board ,soyo 5ema+1.1v set core voltage for amd k6-2 350 mgz 64 mb pc-100 ram set frequency,set cmos to default new battery have a udma 33 3.2 gig hdd32x cd-rom ,8mb on board agp card enabled agp in bios and whern i try to boot it hangs after verifing dmi pool as if it is looking for somthing and i dont know what? please help

I need verifacation from others on this before you do any thing but you could set all hard drive in Bios/cmost to Auto-Detect.

Hi,

I had a similar problem with a brand new ASUS mobo, system would start no problems but if you shut down and wanted to restart (or added software which needed to restart the system) it would lock at the DMI phase. My stop gap solution was to remove the power cord and re connect after about 5 minutes. I got rid of the problem by upgrading to the most current version of BIOS.

If I were you I would try that first.

Most likely thing I can think of is you installed in into a syatem with an existing Windows installation. Usually it will spend 20 minutes or so finding and installing new hardware (motherboard drivers etc) I've never seen it happen, but I suppose it could make it hang too.

I'd say boot to a start up disk, format and reinstall, IF you did install the motherboard onto an existing system, with windows already installed.

If you just installed windows, that's another story, let us know and some more details would help...
