ok, since I cleaned the HD and re-installed everything whenever I play battlefield 1942 (only game I have on) after a few minutes it will exit the game and change the settings to 800x640, and other times it will bring up an error on a blue windows/dos looking screen which I can't read and then restarts the computer. Any Ideas?

You can turn off the automatic reboot in WinXP to allow you to see what the error message is. I would do that so you have more of an idea of the problem. You can check to see if it is a heat issue by opening your case and running a small desk fan on the case while you are playing the game.

What mobo?

Download this (http://www.goldmemory.cz/) and run it one stick at a time in slot one, to test memory is ok.

Whats the error your getting on your blue screnn?

I get something the same when i play Counter Strike, and i found that the memory slots to be bad.

Ok I installed the memory tester and It says something about floppy.img. If this is looking for a floppy drive I don't have one. It says Installation failed ... cannot find floppy.img. Also how do I turn off autoreboot?

Thanks

Yes needs floppy.

Other click on my computer\properties\advanced\startup-recover and uncheck auto reboot.

I am not sure but auto reboot would be in your BIOS I think...

Nope, Jiggy said where it is a couple of posts above. It is a new "feature" of WinXP. Rather than subject users to that awful blue screen and give them cryptic information about the nature of the problem, they have it set up now that it automatically reboots and you get to guess at what the problem is.... FUN new "feature".... :D :p

When I had the blue screen problems it always gave me a 100 second count down before it rebooted so...

Yes, I believe one of the DIMM slots was faulty and would not work. I believe the heat caused this... the computer was on for 4 days straight with several days of battlefield 1942 for several hours. I played again on Battlefield 1942 after the computer being on 2 days with again a lot of play and it restarted. I let it rest over night and it never happened.
