Hello all. I have a problem with the files size of my pictures for my cousin's website. The smallest res my camera takes is 640x480 which produces pics over 100kb, which needless to say take forever to load over a dialup connection.

I don't have Photoshop or any good photo editing software, just what came with my scanner - Photostudio 2000, and I can't find a way to change these files sizes to get them to around 30kb or less....

Is there a utility that anybody knows of besides editing software that I might be able to use?

Many thanks as always!

Many programs that will save image files as a jpg will also shrink them in the process. Some will let you use a percentage of quality or specify the file size to determine how to shrink it. I mostly use PhotoImpact 5 which lets me determine file size at the point of saving the file... You can also crop the photo, shrink it and so on, but that requires more editing features. I believe there are a number of free editing programs available for download....

http://www.mihov.com/eng/ir.html works well. Even lets you resize a batch of jpeg image.

Note: you may want to wear sunglasses when visiting the website.
