I am looking to buy a anti virus software and wanted to learn which is the best. Are they all good in their own little way? Is it like comparing Ford and Chevy or is one superior like Toyota?

Thanks

An anti-virus software no matter how good will be crap if you don't update its database often.

Someone on this board once said that the best antivirus is the one that is used regularly. Add to that updated regularly and you have the answer.

I don't like McAfee anymore after having used it for years. I am using Norton AV right now because I got it free, but it has been buggy. AVG has the advantage of being free and may be as good or better than retail copies. If you look in mjc's security thread, there are several other options as well... If you do decide to check out AVG give them a couple of days to straighten things out...they are in the middle of a major version update and it seems like their servers are swamped. Besides they are also working through a site change(to make room for the new version) and some links are still not working correctly. Probably by about thursday things should be settled down.
