plz help me!!

ok i'm an idiot...i started messing around with bios settings and i didn't know what i was doing. it won't boot and i get a series of long beeps. can someone plz tell tell me how to fix this pronto that would be awesome. thnx.

There are 2 main ways to reset the BIOS to defaults when you can't access it. The first is to find the Clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard and move it from the 2 pins it is on to the middle and other pin for about 1 minute and then back again.

The second is to remove the battery on the motherboard with the system unplugged and press the power button. This should discharge the capacitors and clear the BIOS. I would keep the battery out for at least 30 minutes with this technique.

Wow cool, this will come in handy when it's my turn to mess with my BIOS;) Say Budfred, how does the CMOS jumpers look like and where it would be on the mobo?

It is usually 3 small pins and two of the are covered by the jumper. If you have seen jumpers on the the hard drive, you will have an idea of the size. Not all motherboards have them these days which is why it is good to also know about removing the battery... Of course it is even better to not mess up the BIOS in the first place.:D
