Can anyone tell me why my (floppy drive will work), to boot up my system with a win98 start up disk and it allows me to go into fdisk, set up a primary Dos Partition, do a format, load the virtual drivers to drive D, install windows 98se etc.. AND AFTER Windows is installed.. the floppy drive will NOT work! I go to "My Computer" and click on the "A" drive, and the green light comes on and the pointer freezes up on the screen!! Now, this Computer is an old IBM 486 that my friend uses only to surf the web and he will never use the floppy drive. BUT, I would still like to know what the problem is! There are no resource conflicts in the device manager, I tried other floppy drives, ribbon cables, power connectors, that I know that are good, because they work on my Pentium. I noticed jumpers on the drive that I tried in all possible configurations, that's not the problem. The BIG Question IS, why does it work to install Win98 and not afterwards? I would appreciate anyones help on this mystery!
