I am going to post this on the hard drive section also because it deals with both.
I recently reformatted my hard drive so that I could start over and install a new OS on it (XP). So I made a boot disk and formatted my drive. I then went to installing my new windows xp copy (oem version for new computers only). I figured that if i formatted my hard drive then it would be like a new comp. Windows Setup loaded properly but after it started installing some files, it stopped and said usbheci.sys was corrupted, so i had to restart. I formatted again, even put it on my other comp and formatted it that way. I know it isnt just the XP cd because I had 2 other cds that I tried on it that had the same error. Did I miss a step or is there a different kind of formatting that can delete ALL data? Or is my computer not compatable with XP (800 P3)?
