Do you have a router or residential gateway? That helps out a lot. Most likely you don't with a 56k modem. You can buy a simple usb cord if all you want to do is file-share and you can easily transfer files. If you do have a router you can easily set it up. Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet connections > My network places (on left). Next click "set up a small home or office network. Select your settings and run the floppy you will create on the other computers. Then on each computer go to my computer and right click on the hard drive (usually C: ) and click "Sharing and security" and allow the drive to be shared on the network. Then you should be able to see all the computers under "my network places". If you are missing a computer or more go to start > Search > "computers or people" > "A computer on the network" and type the name of the computer (the IP address may work too). Then after a minute ot two the computer's C drive will show up along with any printers or other shared files/drives. Double click on whatever it is you want to be on the network whether it be a drive, printer, or folder and it has been added to the network. You may have to install some printer drivers which will be a cinch if windows asks you to because it already should have the drivers required. If you need any more help or specifics feel free to ask.

Is it possible to Share files via USB between win98 and winXP? My Win98 machine doesn't have internet access and I have a bunch of files I need to get on to it from my xp machine, such as drivers, winzip, etc. Will that work?

Yes, as I sadi before there are special USB cables that you use to connect 2 computers and share files. I'll look for a place to find them and post back.

Benny:
How far apart are these computers? In the same room? On the same floor?
You will need:
A) 1 4 port router
B) Network card in each computer
C) Cat-5e patch cables to connect the computers to the hub unless you wire your house or go wireless.
Please provide more info.
If you DO NOT have DSL or cable, you will have to set up ICS.
