Hi guys and girls

I've had my pc for 4 years now and when I defragged it use to take all night atleast , just recently its started to take less then an hour and I basicly doubled the amount of file I had. I know I shouldn't really complain but I'm wondering if its defraging properly or skiping over files?
Any way to check and see if the settings shouldbe set at ?

thanks you

Sounds like maybe you have schanged what was running in the background while defragging.

Have you installed or uninstalled or updated anything lately?

Off hand theres nothing new installed . I noramlly defrag by shuting down all programs except for explore then doing a standard sytems scan for errors then defraging . Is it possible for programs still to be running ? How would I go about trying to find the program thats interfering with it?

It could be that you have just been defragging more often and your drives aren't as fragmented when you do it.

You could replace 98's defrag.exe with ME's defrag.exe.

Look at this thread (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22667).

Yes, the ctrl-altl-del window doe not show all running processes.
