I have been using MSN explorer, but would like to begin using Internet Explorer. How do I transfer my "Favorites" list from MSN to IE without doing so one at a time?

Look for a file export option and you should be able to export the the favorites to a file.
Once you switch to IE you should be able to import the file if you remember where you out it.

There is a tool here (http://www.mainsoft.fr/freeware_en.htm) which will convert and transfer the favorites from the xml file for you.

I downloaded the file, but when I tried to install it, I got a message which indicated malicious script, so I didn't go on.

This (http://www.anetforums.com/posts.aspx?ThreadIndex=7674) is from where the script was sourced.
It is a script - but nothing malicious in the one I downloaded. What was giving you the warning?
Are you running some kind of script blocking?
If so what one...it may be a little too sensitive.

The "malicious script" alert was from Norton Anti-virus on my computer.
There are several options provided, but it recommended stop the script.:confused:

You can download, unzip and then read all the files inside by "Open With" Notepad before running any of them if you want to read the code (there isn't that much of it anyways).

So, should I tell it to go ahead with running the script? Also, I cannot find a folder or file on my computer entitled, favorites.xml

On my XP system they exist under :
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\MSN6\UserData\{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxx}
Under Tools/Folder Options/view:
Make sure you set your Windows Explorer to show hidden and system and uncheck the Hide Protected Operating System Files.
It's possible this only works for version 6 of course.

I hate to be such a problem child, but I really want to transfer these favorites. I really appreciate the help available here. Thanks for the tip on showing hidden files. I got to the folder MSN6. It contains files msndata through msndata009. All hve the extension .dat. One other file called au configuration settings. Still nothing called favorites.xml.
