hi, this is my first post and i have this bootup problems with my pc.
my pc had a PS problem b4 but after changing the PS it was ok. the problem is few days ago it won't bootup, and that was after the pc had been off for few weeks. when power on, the power and hdd LED lightup but there's nothing on the monitor like there is not signals. so i figured it might be the video problem and since it is build in, i had to change the motherboard also, so i got the new motherboard, an AGP Card and also a processor, a little uprading while repairing. when all was replaced and set up, i took a deep breath and power on the pc, waiting expectedly... but the same thing as before happened, LED lightup but nothing on monitor. one thing i noticed was that when i push power button the 3 LED on keyboard goes blinking, and when i hold the power button for few seconds as to swich it off, the light on the keyboard goes off but not the power or HDD LED and there's nothing on the screen and nothing else seem to be wrong. the fans are all spining and working but my head goes spinning and freeze. plz help..:(

This could be one of many things, we need to try and narrow this down. Ok......Are your LEDS hooked to the proper pins? On Off switches etc..
"You said there's nothing on the screen" is it a black screen, blue or ?? Did you try booting into "Safe Mode" this would help if there were a driver conflict. Does the processor match the Motherboard specs? Let us know I'm sure someone here will be able to help you through this.

Give us some system specs and we'll go from there.
What is the make and model of the motherboard? Which processor are you trying to run in it? What brand and speed of memory are you using? What video card are you using?
Most importantly, what is the make and model of your power supply? What are the amperage ratings for the various rails, such as the 3.3, 5.0 and 12volt rails?

Also, are you hearing any beeps while attempting to boot? If so please describe the sequence.
Have you tried the monitor on another computer to make sure that it is working properly?
You may need to try a bare bones boot which is best done on a non-conductive surface...cardboard on a wooden table...You would use the Motherboard, CPU and fan, RAM, VideoCard, and Keyboard and power up to see if you can make it through POST.
By the way...Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

here are some more details of what happen. monitor screen was black with red LED on (my guess is standby mode). i'm sure that i had followed the motherboard manual correctly for those little wires.(MSI KT2 Combo MS-6764, and using AMD Duron 1.1 GHz, 128 SDRam 133Mhz, nVidia TNT2 M64 32Mb AGP).
As for the power supply amperage, i had to go back n check cause i'm accessing internet from work but it is a 400 Watts P4.
hope some of this information helps.

As with any troubleshooting process, you would want to make sure that the individual parts are working.
Have you tried the monitor on another computer to make sure it is working?
You have moved from one motherboard with on board video and now to a MB with an AGP and still no video...I'd make sure the monitor is working before moving on...
I would still recommend doing a bare bones boot...you should be hearing at least one beep indicating that you made it through POST
AGP cards are notorious for being tricky to seat properly...you might want to try seating it a few times to ensure contact.

ok i have done the bare bones boot and there was no beep at all. that's why i don't think its the monitor.
oh.. the psu amperage is +3.3V 25A, +5V 32A, -5v 0.3A, +12V 18A, -12V 0.8A, +5V SB 2A and the total power on +3.3v & +5v is 160W Max. it a 400W Twinstar model LPM2-15, is this ok for the motherboard and the processor which is AMD Duron 1.3 instead of what i mention b4 1.1.

The case speaker does need to be connected to hear any beeps...is yours hooked up when doing the barebones boot?
If the system is idling with all fans spinning, are you feeling any warmth at all on the heatsink?

It depends on what else you have hooked up to the 12volt leg. 18amps isn't real great. This webpage gives you lots of info about power supplies (http://members.shaw.ca/need4speed/Power%20Supply%20Choices.htm) that might help you figure it out.

Do you have the heatsink fan plugged into the 3-pin header on the motherboard?
Have you replaced the CMOS battery? It's a coin sized battery on the motherboard. The number is usually CR2032. Try replacing that, it's only a couple of bucks.
Do you have access to a PSU tester, or a voltmeter that you can test the PSU with? The PSU appears to have enough juice to run the components you have, but it may be faulty. Stranger things have happened.

i got a new PSU and it looks alright until i hit the power button the PC on but nothing on the screen unlike b4 the PC power up as soon as i on the wall socket. after some thinking i change a jumper for the FSB from 133 (default) to 100 then i got through the post. one thing i learned here is that the factory default value/jumper is not always work as i always believed, atleast for a newer motherboard.
thank for all the help.
