Something screwy

Ok heres the deal whenever i get my Cd-rom to read the cd's the monitor dosn't recieve a signal

but when the Cd-rom dosn't work my monitor turns on!!!

can someone please help me with this problem i need win 98 on my computers

How about some info on your system (CPU, RAM, Video & Sound cards, monitor and power supply wattage, age of system etc.)

I'm thinking power supply issue (either not big enough or going out) at this point...any chance you could swap out the power supply to check it?

Well my system is a pentium socket 5 system my power supply might by old im not sure i got it from a friend of mine i have like 32mb of ram

i will try replaycing the supply thanx
