No matter what I do I can never get rid of that Links folder out of my favorites. Why does it keep coming back? Does anyone know how to disable it so I never have to see it again!!

Heres one way for xp using the Registry found on this (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_favorites.htm) page
Start - Run - Regedit
Go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
Set the String value of "LinksFolderName" to equal a blank string. Open IE and delete the Links folder from the Favorites menu. The next time you start Internet Explorer the Links folder will not be recreated.

Looks like some of the answer might have to do with which OS you are using...
Here's a start:

Check a little ways down the list and you'll see removing the Links Folder in IE Favorites. Looks like two methods...one through the Registry and another non-Registry.
You can do a search using the parameters..."Removing links folder in IE" and pull up quite a list for your perusing pleasure! ;)

Registry editing has been disabled by the administrator for my work comp but oh well Im not going to mess with that. I still want my computer at home not to have the links folder. I can try the xp version on it when I get home.

you may want to try something like TweakUI. I think this has some IE tweaks includind the links folder, but its been a while since I used it on 98, or at all for that matter. Just make sure you get the right version for your OS. I dont know if 98 and 98SE have different versions.

I think you're correct pave I seem to recall in the Google search that TweakUI showed up as having the capability to disable...
When I checked the link it just took me to Microsoft XP for the XP Powertools download stuff...
I just took a quick look...as I run ME and in TweakUI under IE there's a checkmark that can be removed and the Links Folder will go bye bye...

Hey thanks guys for your help! I guess all I really had to do is:
The Links Folder in your Favorites Folder can not be deleted. You can hide it however:
In Windows Explorer go to \Windows\Favorites
Right-click on the Links folder
From the menu select Properties
Place a Check-mark in the attributes box for Hidden
Now the Links folder won't show on the Favorites menu.
I tried to find that TweakUI but I really couldnt find one for 98, but I found this on somw web site. I guess it was easier then I thought and right under our noses.

Tweak UI (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,2803,00.asp) I believe this version is for Win98 and others...
