I started assembling a new system this weekend and have not had much success. I thought I throw this out there and see if anyone had some suggestions. This is a new install using parts from an operational computer with an new motherboard.
Specifications:
Abit KA7
Athlon 750mhz (classic)
128MB Kingston Value RAM
GForce 2 MX200
Maxtor HD; 52x CD-ROM, floppy
300W AMD approved PS
Problem: All components installed per user manual. However when I start the system, I get a split second of power (all fans spin up)and then nothing. If I try to start again, there is no power at all. I must pull the power connection from the power source and re-plug to allow the switch to briefly power up the fans.
Actions: Checked all connections, e.g. CPU, RAM, Video, power, switches, etc.; made sure motherboard was not shorted by the case (uninstalled and tried firing the board once removed from the case); checked switch with spare that I had on hand. Note - I bought two of these motherboards on sale so I could put together another system for a friend. I have tried the above actions with both boards with same results.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
ER
