I'm putting together a new system and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on video cards. I don't need anything too fancy, I'll mostly be doing audio recording and editting, but I need dual monitor support. Any thoughts?

My thought would be to check out the Matrox website while waiting for actual suggestions from those more in the know.

They seem to be reasonable cost wise and have dual monitor support. You didn't mention if you were planning on using CRTs or LCD...The Matrox G550 will allow either...

Hey, Dual monitors huh? Shouldnt be to difficult with any of the newer video cards. Using 2k/XP its pretty simple.
Check here.

You just need two cards, one good agp card and another PCI card or onboard will work.

IF you game at all one card wouldnt be a great idea.

zander made two posts about this, and he seems to have already decided upon the Radeon 9200 here (http://pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=138141#post138141).

Why?

With today's video cards, I see no reason why you would need two video cards for dual monitor output. What this has to do with gaming I don't know.
