the other day i was playing with a friend's PC. the PC was running normally. the problem is when i try to connect the phone line to the internal modem, i got an electric shock when i touch the back platform. it like there is a static charge in the case. when i touch it again it's still there so it cannot be static other wise it should have been discharge at first touch. i was thinking of power leakage somewhere, and if it is anyone know where it usually happen?

Get an electician to check the wiring if you don't know how to do this safely yourself. You shouldnt get a non-static shock from a properly earthed appliance.

Search for the phase by testing the back panel with a neon screvdriver or other (http://www.engineeringtalk.com/news/kew/kew111.html) device in the meanwhile.

I had a similar problem last year.

I forget what wall outlets are like in Malaysia, two prong or three prong. In Taiwan they are two prong and reversing the plug (using a 3 to 2 prong converter) solved the problem.

Have a look at this thread (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16225&highlight=three+prong+outlet).

More than likely it is a grounding problem.

These threads remind me of a line from Sean O'Casey :

" Shocking has two Ks..":D
