I have recently formatted the hard drive on my other PC and now it is saying missing operating system and I am unable to get the software back on because of this. Any ideas anyone?? Please!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
What software are you trying to install on it?
Did you, after the format, try to put Windows on it?
How did you format it? With a bootdisk or a system restore disk?
Some other system info would also be helpful.
Here (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000386.html) is a link on how to install windows. If all you are trying to do is make the drive bootable then put in the bootdisk and when you get to the a:> type in sys_c:\ (space instead of the underscore), that will transfer the systems files to the drive and make it bootable.

I am trying to install windows 95 from cd - I cannot install anything at the moment because their does not appear to be an operating system, although when the PC starts and I go to the CMOS section it says that there is a C:
Basically I need to know how to get all the things back on that I want including CD driver etc. How do I create the C: drive again http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
None of the Boot disks I have seem to work

I'm gathering from your post that there is some confusion regarding Win95 and your operating system. They are the same. You are trying to install Win95 which is your operating system.
It would help if you answered MJC's question regarding how you formatted this Hard Drive. If you had an operating system on this Hard Drive when you formatted it you wiped out all previous data. It is essentially a clean slate. Where did you get the software that you did it with? Did you do it from a diskette? What do the diskette say on it?
May all your dealings in life be win/win!

If you have a windows 95 or 98 startup diskette insert it into your 3 1/2 floppy drive. Reset your PC it should boot to an A:\ prompt with CDROM support. open your CDROM and insert your Win 95 CDROM. At the A prompt type X:_SETUP (use a space in place of underscore)(X is the drive letter of your CDROM drive)should look like this A:\>D: setup
Ooops the link should be this (http://www.dandy.net/oracat/win9x/chapter/ch10.html).
