Problem: Pentium 166, unknown owner, (doner PC); locked out, no curser, asking for password. Cannot even access setup. PC wiped clean by previous owner.

Question: Is there a program out there I can purchase/download to assist with this problem or do any of you know how to access the CMOS by bypassing the password. I am not a novice, but either am I an expert so keep it simple for me, please.

Thanks a bunch.

You need to use the Clear Cmos feature of the Mother board.

You will need to open the case and find the Clear cmos jumper or short pins on the mother board.
When you find the jumper or short pins.
Just move the jumper or short out the two pins and press the power switch (Power up)
then shut down and restart normally the cmos should be cleared and the password removed.

The password protect is designed to protect the cmos settings from being changed by users.

Thanks for the response. I found the answer on page 3 of this very forum. (I should have checked there first). http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif I removed the battery, then replaced it, and now I'm having no trouble at all. Thanks again!!
