Accounting software

I have some accounting software which runs under Windows 98 because under that operating system it is available the Ms Dos prompt and the above mentioned program is executed at the Dos prompt ; but I would like to run that program under Windows XP; the problem is that under Windows XP the Dos prompt is not available. start > programs > accessories > command prompt

Is one way of accessing the Win XP Command prompt. (Not true dos but an emulation..)

Another way is Start > Run & type CMD into the box.
will also open the dos box

Assuming you use the accounting program regularly, you could:

1- Do a FIND of the program name (the same as you enter at the DOS prompt)

2- Right click and click on CREATE SHORTCUT.

3- Move the shortcut to the DESKTOP and/or START MENU folders. You can then initiate the program from the desktop and/or the start menu.

When starting under DOS, if you have to enter parameters that are the same for every run then, after #3 above, select the shortcout and click on properties. Then go to the program tab and edit the CMD LINE to show what you normally enter of the DOS command.
