Open Outlook Express
select File>import>messages>Microsoft Outlook Express6>next
place a Check in the import mail from an OE6 store directory>select ok
then hit browse button
locate your .dbx folders and files, then click on next
top heading of box should read select folders, and a list of all available .dbx folders/files will be listed
then choose all folders, or selected folders, then next

****Do not copy the backup files into the current OE message store or the import will fail. If you saved your backup on a CD or a networked drive, you will need to copy the backup to your hard disk and verify that none of the *.dbx files are marked as "read only", or the import can fail.****

you can also use the file>import>address book process to import your address book as well

Do not copy the backup files into the current OE message store

Agreed - but another approach is to copy them to some other location of your choosing. You can then go into OE and from Tools>>Options>>Maintenance>>StoreFolder and Click on the Change button and then browse to wherever you have placed your backup folders.
