From last few days, i notice a purple shade on monitor. The montior stays purple for around 4-5 minutes after i first start the pc. i have a feeling .. like.. once the graphics card gets a bit warm it starts working fine.

i recently got a new Asus motherboard with onboard graphics card (A7N266 motherboard - geforce2 onboard-card). i dont think theres a problem with the monitor coz it used to work fine with my old motherboard - intel 810 chipset.

Also, i took a snapshot of screen (Printscreen), pasted in Paintbrush and saved it as a bmp just to check whether the fault lied in the monitor or graphics card. When the monitor turned 'normal' i opened the image, and it was perfectly fine, no purple shades. This proves that the fault is in the monitor, bcoz if the graphic card were faulty, it would have shown the image with purple shades.

am very much confused now ... so, is the graphic card faulty or is it the monitor ? one more thing i would like to add,... montior is 4 yrs old. and graphics card hardly 10 days.

Monitor.....

Possibly one of the control cicuits has a bad solder joint that is having poor cntact until the circuit bard warms up enough. Sounds like the problem lies with the controls for the "green" color gun.

Or it could be a faulty transformer......

In either case, neither would be a cheap fix. So it looks like it may be time to go shopping.

If it is then it is time to let it go......or turn it into a fish tank or something.

Inka: yeh, this is the same monitor when lightning struck, but i aint sure whether it got fried by lightning. coz it worked fine for a couple of days after the lightning event.

mjc: i think i will have to go shopping ... :( but b4 tht i will bring in a neighbours monitor jus to make sure the prblem is with the monitor.
