Last night I was running a stress test on my CPU. Everything went fine and when it was over I closed everything, turned my monitor off but I left the computer on. After I went to bed I woke back up and turned my monitor on and my screen was funny. Everything looks normal except the bottom where the taskbar is. It had become very small all the way across and about an inch up from the bottom. I tried rebooting but it was still there and then I tried changing my display settings and no matter which one I used it stayed small at the bottom of my screen. The last thing I then did was set the monitor back to default and still no change.

Is this from something I ran or is something from my monitor, because I just bought it?

Silly question, but have you tried dragging the task bar up alittle?

yeah but that didnt work. I really think its the monitor, cause even the icons and the background look small. Its like an effect you make from a paint editor. on top is normal and around the bottom it just gets really samll, shrinking effect kinda.

It sounds like your monitor settings were changed. It is usually pretty easy to adjust this using the buttons on the monitor. I have had things like that happen at times and you just fiddle with the screen adjustments until it is back the way you want it.

If that isn't it, I would try a different monitor to see if it works ok and then try this monitor on a different computer to see if it will run ok. This will help narrow down whether it is a monitor or a video/computer problem....

Did you also try the onscreen controls??? If the onscreen controls don't work, then it is probably a bad monitor, but I would try them before going shopping.....

Some monitors will display a test screen if turned on but not attached to the pc.

What happens if the monitor is attached to another PC?

I switched monitors and the other one is good. I did the test and it shows up still, so I know now the monitor is bad. I still have it under warranty though.
