I get the following message when trying to open an Excel spreadsheet:
MS Visual Basic
Compile error on hidden module: DistMon
Then the program will seem to open and work properly. And when I close the Excel file, get this message:
MS Visual Basic
Compile error in hidden module: AutoExecNew
My OS is Windows 98SE, and I'm using MS Office 2000, Small Business Edition. I've kept current with all the Windows and MS Office updates, and this message is relatively new, but I can't recall changing anything recently, or adding any new software.
Any suggestions?

Hi and Welcome.
These errors related to incorrect code within the VB modules lying behind the particular file you are using and any macros it is utilising rather than anything to do with excel itself.
You should be able to view the code from Tools>>Macro>>VisualBasicEditor.
Is this a new project or spreadsheet? If it is not needed than just delete it or at least dont have it opening by default when you use excel. If it is needed and it used to work before then the question is why has the code since developed compile errors.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still puzzled...
The eroor messages appear whenever I open an excel spreadsheet, whether a new file or an old one. I've looked at the Visual Basic Editor, but not quite sure what to look for?

Seems I should not have assumed it was a compile error after all.

That's Good - but the work was mainly Google's. (http://www.google.com)
FYI and for the future:- I just typed "Compile error in hidden module: DistMon" into Google; the link was the first one in the list from Microsoft.

I finally found the link via a round-about way after you gave it to me. I like your suggestion better. Thanks again.
