i might go this way since my notebook is capable of it. but i dont know much about these mini pci wireless cards. anyone ever messed with them? anyone know of any good articals talking about this on the net? i could sure use some more info before shelling out money for one. i'll either get a mini pci or a pcmcia.

btw, this is for college since some if not most of the network there is wireless now.

my notebook specs are the 3rd one down :)

If you have a mini-PCI slot in your notebook, use it!! Mini-PCI is fully internal, which is great (if you've ever used a PCMCIA modem/ethernet card you know what I mean).

With PCMCIA, everything is hanging out in the open and only secured by the fragile pins in the socket. To give you an idea of how often they break, my friend went through 3 PCMCIA ethernet cards in less than 2 years!

His PCMCIA wireless card is working better because there's no cord yanking down on it, but having something that expensive exposed to the outside will just make you nervous. Do yourself a favor and make it internal - that way you'll only have to buy it once! :p
