I would like to know if the intel P4 2.6 512Kb S478 Box 800FSB is a good processor to use with my Motherboard. I can't afford a penny higher than this one.

I am getting it from DABS (http://www.dabs.com)

Here is a link to the processor (http://www.dabs.com/products/prod-info3-info.asp?&m=y&quicklinx=2HNL)

To see what parts I have choosen to put in my computer look at the links below.

Motherboard (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24033)
RAM (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24148)
Case (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24196)

That processor is fine. But like I told you before, you must get some PC3200 RAM to go with that processor and motherboard. If you get the PC2700 you have chosen you will be overclocking that RAM.

That board has a front side bus of 200. The P4 will multiply that by 4 to give the cpu a fsb of 800. RAM is Double Data Rate which multiplies the 200 by 2, which is 400. PC2700 is DDR333, PC3200 is DDR 400.

Change your RAM.;)

Edit- Just saw your last post in your "case" link. You have already changed your RAM (keeping it all in one thread would have made it easier for us to answer). But if it's easier for you this way, no worries.:)

Looks like a nice system and you're good to go.

Thanks for your help malcore.

I still think it's easier for me this way, I could in future place the parts I have choosen in my first post of a new thread just to make it easier.
