With the way the new file sharing services (Morpheus and Kazaa) operate without a central server it certainly looks like the studios should have made a deal early on with Napster and Scour. There appears no way to shut down these services. Even if the central servers are shut down, which really only deliver ads, the software will still operate. What a mess!

Other than going after individuals and their ISPs I don't see many options. I suppose they could go after the ISPs to block whatever ports these services use.

The music and film industry have talked for years about providing downloads but it looks to me their best option at this point is to make some sort of a deal.
