Microphone does not work.

I use a P4 2.4 ghz pc with 256 MB Ram and 40 gb hdd running win 98 SE and using on board audio AC 97 and video. Recently after upgrading to msn messenger 6 and also after installation and removal of Kerio personal firewall, my microphone does not work. While tuning using the audio tuning wizard of msn messenger the speakers work fine but there is no response of the microphone and hence i am unable to use the audio facility in msn and yahoo messenger. I have tried reinstalling the audio drivers, but of no use, My motherboard is a Gigabyte 81GX. Pl help

Hi there Prakashn

Tyr going to the volume icon down next to the clock and RIGHT click it. Then selct "Open Volume Controls" when this opens make sure that the Mike is not muted.

If you cannot see a reference for the microphone there go upto Options and select Properites and then RECORDING. Make sure that the mike is selected there.
