Two problems:
1. My Hotmail account decided it would no longer download into Outlook Express. It gives me a you have entered an invalid Hotmail address or Password box. Upon reentering imfo it just loops back to same message. I removed account and then added it back several times to no avail. Searched web and Microsoft without any solution that worked, in fact they seem to be avoiding issue from forums I've checked.
Any ideas?
2. All mail to my ISP email address is being duplicated into my Hotmail account which is a time consuming pain to delete all duplicates, plus I have to go to MS Hotmail to do it because of problem # 1. Any ideas on getting things back. I had done nothing I know of to cause these problems but even went as far as uninstalling IE and reinstalling with no result.
Thanks, Olopbob

Stupid questions, but.............

See screeenshot below for the Hotmail account in my own OE6.

BTW, you haven't changed your Hotmail password, have you?

Can you send hotmail account email FROM your OE?

Assuming you are using a firewall, has OE been granted the necesssary permission to access the internet?

Finally, I know you have re-installed IE, but it might just be worth trying a Microsoft Internet Explorer "Repair" from Add/Remove Programs.

Quick process if you think it's worth trying? :) :)

All mail to my ISP email address is being duplicated into my Hotmail account
This is the weird part - and I can only think of three possibilites - none of which seem very likely.
1) Everyone sending you mails is sending it to two addresses.
2) Your ISP is somehow forwarding copies of all mails to hotmail.
3) OE is somehow "screwed" and the normal inbox (for ISP mails) is transferring to the Hotmail-Inbox - from which it is then synchronised to the webserver.

If this is in anyway due to a corrupted inbox, then try deleting the file inbox.dbx from your OE store folder (see where it is from Tools/Options/Maintenance/StoreFolder). Backup any mails in your inbox before deleting the file. When you next close and re-open OE a brand new inbox.dbx file is created.

Another alternative would be to set up your two accounts under a new identity - this would create all brand new folders.

And another alternative (if only for troubleshooting to exclude OE as the source of the problem) would be to set up the two accounts inFoxmail (http://fox.foxmail.com.cn/english.htm), which is the only other client I know of which allows a hotmail setup in it alongside other pop3 accounts.

I downloaded Foxmail and somehow screwed it up.I can't even remove first account I installed because it tells me I need it.I had installed 3 Foxmail accounts (2 Hotmail & my main ISP).None of the accounts worked and thats when I decided to remove them and start over.I thought I could follow directions, and everyone says it is easy to use but I must have missed something in the Chinese translation. An easy install tutorial would be nice and I'm also wary when it asks to become my default over Outlook Express. I would never have even dicovered Foxmail if I hadn't exhausted every possible fix in Outlook Express and Hotmail, I even went as far as hacking registry in order to purge passwords and changing and adding new Hotmail account. For my trouble I now have 2 Hotmail accounts which both give me a you have entered an invalid Hotmail address or Password box. Upon reentering imfo it just loops back to same message. I have been using Mailwasher Pro to clean, bounce, and blacklist Spam for over a year without a problem and thier support tells me they have nothing to do with these new problems, but I suspect it may conflict with Foxmail.I guees I could remove foxmail and try reinstall but seems futile without simple setup instructions that point out incompatabilities with other mail programs.QUOTE]Originally posted by Mitch Hatfield Stupid questions, but............. Don't know if this is a clue, or doesn't apply to IE6. I access my Hotmail box through OE, not by setting OE to download Hotmail, but by clicking up on Help in OE, then Microsoft on the Web, then Hotmail. I tried long ago making a link to my Hotmail Inbox in IE, but never could get that to work. For awhile now..maybe six months or so..every two or so weeks (long enough that I don't really notice a pattern), when I access Hotmail I go to login screen rather than Inbox screen. (Actually not Inbox screen since they changed it...but a list of folders screen in my actual Hotmail account.) Login screen wants my password again, even though "remember my password" or "login in automatically" or whatever is already checked. I just did that a few minutes ago, had to re-enter my password, and for the next couple of weeks, I will go straight to my box. I have thought that it might be a security feature that Hotmail added months ago??

I can't believe it. Your little work around worked perfectly and I didn't even have to login to hotmail. Hopefully I'll find and fix problem, but until then you have saved a headache. THANKS, THANKS, THANKS, and THANKS again.
