I'm running McAfee Firewall version 2.1 atm.

Its done everything I need it to do, so far.

What I'm wondering, is this.

Is there any need to upgrade Firewall software?.

I mean, it all does pretty much the same thing, no matter what make or version.

So if I got say, the latest version of McAfee Firewall, does that really mean I'm investing in better/increased protection for my system, or am I just fine with my current one?.

There's always the possibility that a vulnerability could be discovered in a firewall that would need fixing to ensure security. Usually, though, new versions just have more bells and whistles.

There are a number of online tests you can run to see how secure you are. I havnt got the links to hand but someone may be able to help or else rummage through the posts.
They will give you an indication of how secure you are.
